Question by Don B: Paxil and loss of libido AND inability to achieve orgasm?
I have been on paxil for about three months and have lost all but complete intrest in sex and have only been able to achieve orgasm once in this time, and that was very minimal and very VERY hard to come to. This is not only taking a tol on me and my manhood, but also my girlfriend. All of the other side effects have worn off and my doctor (who I think about changing) says to give it more time but if anything things are getting worse. I find myself looking up porn in desperation and it is driving me insane. It feels like it is takign over most of my life and ruining the rest. My art, music, and my weight training are all falling so far behind. Anyone else have these same problems or just some advice? Thank you.
A year ago I was medicated for my anxiety also (but was ended after a month because I lost my insurance) and during that month the doc had me on 3 different meds until finally Paxil helped.
I think I will change my gp and see what we can do. But all other meds made thigns worse (the first one sent me into the worst panic attacks of my life(lasting 30 – 40 minutes ever 10 – 20 minutes).

So far waiting it out seems best…I am really hoping that it takes less than 3 years. I can still enjoy sex…just no touch down.

Yes, with paxil and other anti-depressants sometime sex is affected.
If you are thinking about changing doctors, do it. You should feel comfortable and happy with your gp. Once you find a new one, talk to him or her about this and see if either your dosage can be lowered, or you try another anti-depressant.
However, do not take yourself off the pills yourself, or lower the dosage yourself. It isnt safe.

Question by GK: Do wins and losses effect your libido?
Do little wins like getting a craft just right or getting that difficult music bit down just right or solving that stubborn computer problem effect your libido? How about losses, parking tickets, finding yet another home improvement item to add to the list?
