I feel bad because my boyfriend is always ready to go. And I feel like there is something wrong with me. Do people just go through phases where they have a low libido or could it possibly be an underlying relationship issue?

My fiance is going through pre-menopause. She is experiencing the hot flashes, mood swings and has a decreased libido. I have tried my best to be patient, loving and understanding. We still have sex. She knows that sex is important to me and she enjoys it too. But, it is not always as passionate as it once was. She feels bad about it. We both know it is not her fault and we still love each other. She still loves me and is there for me. Sometimes I feel like she is doing it for just me and not her.

She gets hot flashes during the day and at night. I can feel them coming on when our skin is touching at night. It is weird to feel her skin temperature rising suddenly. I turn on the fan for her and move away as she experiences her little "tropical vacation". I give her a glass of ice water and do my best to comfort her. The mood swings are fun too.

It happens to most women around 47 years of age or so. It’s part of the unfair torture that women must bear that us men don’t have to endure. I really feel frustrated because I always want to help her and other people. There is not a whole lot I can do for her when it comes to hot flashes.

I was wondering if her libido will ever return to what it once was. Some self centered men think it is all about them. I’m not going to leave her because of it either way. I am not that shallow. But, I do want to have better understanding of what we may be looking at in the future.
